Biography

Eser Gündüz is a Turkish contemporary artist born in 1990 in Antalya and currently based in France, where his practice continues to expand within an international context. Originally trained in architecture at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, he developed a deep sensitivity to space, structure, and composition—principles that now form the backbone of his artistic language. His transition from architecture to painting led him to explore what he defines as spatial painting, an approach strongly influenced by the experimental and interdisciplinary spirit of the Bauhaus movement. This foundation allows Gündüz to merge architectural precision with expressive freedom, resulting in works that balance formal rigor and emotional intensity.

Rooted in expressionism, Gündüz’s art is marked by introspection, tension, and a profound sense of human vulnerability. Throughout his career, he has undergone several artistic phases, beginning with a strong emphasis on drawing as a primary tool of expression. He later expanded toward more universal drawing languages before progressively incorporating architectural structures, mechanical forms, and spatial constructions into his compositions. These shifts reflect an ongoing search for new visual systems capable of addressing the psychological, social, and technological realities of the contemporary world.

Central to Gündüz’s work is a sustained investigation into the evolving relationship between humanity and technology. Mechanized human figures, hybrid bodies, and references to artificial intelligence recur throughout his practice, existing in a space between observation and abstraction. These motifs serve as metaphors for identity, transformation, and the tension between organic life and technological advancement. His works invite viewers to reflect on progress, control, and the future of human presence within increasingly artificial environments.

Gündüz’s artistic language transcends cultural boundaries, fostering dialogue across different societies and contexts. His work has been exhibited internationally in France, China, Spain, England, Turkey, and Italy, in both solo and group exhibitions. Through a practice that bridges architecture, painting, and philosophical inquiry, Eser Gündüz continues to develop a compelling body of work that questions the role of humanity in a technologically driven era.
