Article en anglais | Hailing from Milan, the Italian capital of design, Alessandro Paglia has always been fascinated by the sheer elegant simplicity of that most classic of colour combinations, black and white, whether it be in the fine-arts, design, fashion, film or photography. With an education and background in product design and over ten years of experience in that field, Alessandro says “Objects attract me, in particular their aesthetics, textures, materials and volumes. I feel inspired by the stories they tell, their personalities, the ingenuity of their creators, their hidden world. At some point I simply felt that I had to combine these two passions.” The result of this fusion are his exceptional artworks.
Article en anglais | My fetish for objects has long been fueled by my studies and my work in design. My passion for the surface of objects, volumes, materials, the interplay of light, the story that each subject tells, the hidden world it carries within itself. I have collected, designed, photographed them in the dark room set up in my parents' basement. I felt like a chemist and a medium, giving new life, artistic if you will, to the subjects I photographed. Another old passion of mine is drawing, as a kid I used to draw comic strips in black and white, especially noir. A passion which I never systematically cultivated, but a constant interest.
Article en anglais | Alessandro Paglia is a design graduate and professional who decided to drop it all to for an artistic career, pursuing his passion for drawing. Since he was a young child, Alessandro Paglia fell for the magical world of art in his aunt’s ceramic workshop. He went on to study Design at Politecnico di Milano and managed to obtain several positions across the industry. Nevertheless, drawing stayed his true passion and after some years, he finally decided to give it a shot as a profession. His works depict a magical realism that is subject to an exceptional technique from the artist. His unique process involves photographing the subjects in order to skilfully maintain impressive attention to detail in every piece.
Article en anglais | A talented Italian artist who creates striking artworks using only pens or pencils. Milan-based artist Alessandro Paglia has always found objects fascinating, from the stories they tell through their design to their surface, volume, texture, and interplay of light and shadow. After working for years as a product designer, he decided to focus his talents in a different direction: drawing. Using only pens or pencils, he started creating highly realistic illustrations with an obsessive attention to detail. However, Alessandro Paglia’s artworks are not merely a faithful reproduction of real objects. Throughout his work, he adds unusual twists and details designed to surprise the viewer.
