UK-based artist Joe Curtis — best known for his stamp-inspired paintings merging pop culture, romance, and retro aesthetics — traces the shifting nature of love and desire in a rapidly changing world, from handwritten letters to late-night DMs. Scrolling Through Time is both a reflection and a reminder — of how we connect, disconnect, and remember.

At the heart of Joe Curtis’s practice is the postage stamp — not just a visual motif, but a conceptual lens. Once a vessel for slow, tangible communication, the stamp becomes in his work a symbol of intimacy, memory, and emotional distance. By enlarging and reimagining these everyday objects, Curtis invites us to reflect on how we connect in an age shaped by instant messages and fleeting exchanges.

His bold, graphic compositions blend pop culture references with the structure of the stamp, evoking the romance of handwritten letters while exploring the complexities of modern love. Entirely self-taught, Curtis brings a raw and honest perspective to the evolution of relationships — capturing both what has changed, and what endures.

In his latest series, he turns to the dating culture of the 1970s to 1990s, a time before the digital age reshaped intimacy. Through playful yet poignant imagery, Curtis offers a nostalgic meditation on how we seek, experience, and remember love.
