Galerie LeRoyer is proud to present Peter Reuterberg’s first Focus exhibition in Canada, marking the beginning of the gallery’s representation of the Swedish artist. Based in Marstrand, an island on Sweden’s west coast, Reuterberg creates bronze sculptures that capture moments seemingly suspended outside ordinary time: a figure caught in contemplation, a gesture held in balance, a quiet encounter between the human form and the natural world. Shaped by life in Marstrand and his close relationship with the sea, his sculptures transform seemingly simple scenes into reflections on solitude, curiosity, vulnerability, and our place within nature.
There is an understated poetry to Reuterberg’s work. Small shifts in posture, proportion, and expression become narratives of their own, while the permanence of bronze contrasts with the fleeting moments he chooses to preserve. At once playful and contemplative, his figures leave space for interpretation, allowing each viewer to find something familiar within them.
