CSRK - Artists - Galerie LeRoyer

A self-taught artist, CSRK first discovered urban art in Europe. Fascinated by the dissident character of this practice, he chooses Montreal to dive into the richly symbolic universe that is the mural scene. From building facades to highway pillars, works of art flourish, and give rise to reflection. An incredible aesthetic diversity within which he quickly finds his place.

Although he divides his time between two different — yet complementary — artistic practices, CSRK proposes a plastic universe tinged with codes and references that have accompanied him since childhood. The collages he punctuates the brick walls of Montreal (OUT) with, and the pieces he works on in his studio (IN) evoke the nostalgia of a colourful past but also bear the mark of a very symbolic daily life.

Thus, characters from old comic strips, or those directly from the great classics of cinema, find themselves sporting a maple leaf or the logo of the local subway company. The artist creates a dialectic between icons of the past and local colours, testimony of his day-to-day life in this city he loves.
